Miriam McDonald is Principal of Taminmin College. She commenced education studies in Victoria and completed her Masters of Education in the Northern Territory. She trained as a home economics and science teacher and has taught in Victoria, South Australia and for the past 29 years in the Northern Territory. She has enjoyed working in remote Northern Territory communities, most recently at Maningrida as Assistant Principal. In 1996 she commenced at Taminmin College as a Senior Teacher and also filled the role of Assistant Principal before winning the Principal position in 2011.
Miriam is passionate about providing students with opportunities for success and was awarded the Arnhem and Palmerston Secondary Principal of the Year in 2013. She has also been a dedicated member of the home economics Professional Association, and was the National President for 2 years which involved advocacy in respect of the Australian Curriculum. She is proud of being Principal of Taminmin and strives to continually improve student learning and outcomes.
